Special Update from the Disneyana Fan Club's President
Here’s an update on our upcoming Disneymania Event on October 7th at the Fera Hotel, a DoubleTree by Hilton in Anaheim/Orange County (new name, same hotel as last May).
We are honored to present our Disneyana Fan Club's Disney Legend award to Stacia Martin, a former Disneyland cast member, Disney historian and noted artist. She travels all over the country, the world and the high seas sharing Disney history and entertaining fans with her incredible artistic talents. She will share her Disney journey with a special presentation for us at the afternoon sessions. Please join us for this special opportunity to meet Stacia as she delights us with her remarkable presentation.
The career of Disneyland’s Imagineer Kim Irvine will also be honored that evening. Kim has worked for decades shaping the look and experiences of Disneyland. Due to a medical condition, Kim has asked her daughter to appear in her place to share her accomplishments and her incredible story with all of us. Her daughter and third generation Imagineer, Ali Irvine Wheeler, will join us to celebrate her mother and grandmother. This will be a rare opportunity to experience Disney history through the eyes of a third generation Imagineer!
Though Kim will not be in attendance, she has created a heartfelt presentation, especially for this event, that she wanted you to experience.
If you have not registered, it is not too late. Limited seats are still available, but you will need to act quickly.
Hoping to c’ya real soon!

Leota "Lee" Toombs Thomas
Leota "Lee" Toombs Thomas began her career with Disney in 1940 with the Ink and Paint Department and then went to the Animation Department. It is there that she met animator Harvey Thomas, and they were married in 1947. Leota left Disney to raise a family and Disney came knocking on Leota's door in 1962 for her expertise to help with a new attraction, The Enchanted Tiki Room. She joined WED Enterprises (now known as Walt Disney Imagineering), which was described by Walt as his "santa's workshop" creating ideas and designing features for Disneyland, Walt's magic kingdom. Leota became one of the first women imagineers. Afterward, Leota worked on exhibits for the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, in which some of the exhibits became beloved attractions at Disneyland, including Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Ford's Magic Skyway and it's a small world. Later, she was involved with other timeless Disneyland attractions, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. During the opening year of Walt Disney World, Leota helped trained the show and maintenance teams for the brand new theme park. Leota came back to Imagineering in 1979 and helped train the next generations of Imagineers. But, Leota is best known at the face seen by millions as the model for Madame Leota, the disembodied fortune teller in the floating crystal ball calling for a sign from all the spirit at The Haunted Mansion. She is also seen, and heard, at the end of the attraction as Little Leota. |
